A MENTALLY ill teen was gunned down by police officers in the street after he was ordered to drop his hunting knife 40 times.
Cops noticed an 11.25 inch knife in Jeremy Holmes' right hand, as he calmly strolled near Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins on July 1 this year.
Chilling bodycam footage, which lasts two minutes, films officer Phil Morris jump out of his car in a bid stop Jeremy in his tracks.
Morris can be heard pleading: "I don't want to hurt you. Please drop the knife."
The officer's voice begins to tremble as he tells the youngster, who said he wanted to die, that he had "tons of options".
But Jeremy, now slowly walking towards the officer, says he bought the weapon to kill his brother.
Yelling for his fellow officer to taser the youngster, Morris continues to back up.
But in a dramatic turnaround, Jeremy darts towards the officer, moments before he is gunned down.
According to reports, Holmes' fatal shooting marks the first time Colorado police released body-worn camera footage from a shooting involving one of its officers.
