As a parent, you would likely be very concerned if your children were exposed to a significant amount of chloroform, lead, DDT, or gasoline fumes. You don’t need to be reminded that these substances are poisonous and therefore hazardous for your kids to be around.
These substances are among 250 other agents that the International Agency for Research on Cancer, part of the United Nations’ World Health Organization (WHO), classifies as Class 2B Carcinogens, meaning possibly carcinogenic to humans. This makes sense.
New Substance Named Possibly Carcinogenic: EMFs
But did you know that there was another entry on that same list a couple of years ago: microwave radiation (EMFs)? This type of radiation is transmitted by all wireless devices, including cell phones, laptops, and tablets—as well as cell towers, power lines, and even electricity.
Few know this very important—yet not well-advertised—piece of information. And, what’s interesting is there are scientists world-wide who have looked at the volumes of research that have been published on the subject who claim that the “possibly carcinogenic” classification is much too mild. They are convinced that microwave radiation is definitely hazardous—and in particular, to children.
Children Absorb More Microwave Radiation
than Adults
A recent report published by Lloyd Morgan, et al in the Journal of Microscopy and Ultrastructure entitled “Why children absorb more microwave radiation than adults: The consequences” is among the latest reports of studies arguing that children and adolescents are at considerable risk from devices that radiate microwaves (and that adults are also at a significant, although lower, risk).
Highlights of the report include:

The report, like many before it, also links exposure to microwave radiation to cancer. However, the matter is complicated in that the average time between exposure to a carcinogen and a resultant tumor is three or more decades, thus making it difficult to arrive at definitive conclusions.
Can We Rely on Government Regulations?
In the meantime, it seems wise to ask: Are the government’s current regulations adequate? The exposure levels they warn against haven’t been updated for more than 19 years. And those regulations were done in circumstances that do not even relate much to what is happening today in our wireless world.
Columnist Mark Gibbs has written an opinion article called “Is Wi-Fi killing us…slowly?”. He makes the point that
“… laws and warnings are all very well but it’s pretty much certain that all restrictions on products that use microwave technology will err on the safe side; that is, the side that’s safe for industry, not the side of what’s safe for society…“Will we look back (sadly) in fifty or a hundred years and marvel at how Wi-Fi and cellphones were responsible for the biggest health crisis in human history?”
Protecting Our Children
No parent wants to take chances with their children’s health. You need to make choices now that will help ensure that your children won’t grow up to be part of what might be the “biggest health crisis in human history”.
