Over the past few years Disney has been testing the waters with live-action remakes of their classic movies. While some, like Maleficent and Alice In Wonderland, aim to twist the story we know and give us a fresh story have been met with mixed reception, the more proper remakes like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Pete’s Dragon, and The Jungle Book have faired much better critically and profit-wise.
Now, Disney is ramping up production on these remakes, having over 20 currently planned. Check them out!

Dumbo is being directed by Tim Burton. No word yet on how or where he will forcibly cast Johnny Depp.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves will feature original music from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who wrote the music for The Greatest Showman and La La Land.

Pinocchio will be a loose adaptation of the animated film, with Paddington director Paul King in charge.

Prince Charming is looking to get his own film, although it is still unclear whether it is the Prince from Cinderella or Snow White. It will be directed by Stephen Chbosky

The character Chernabog from Fantasia will be getting his own movie. This demon from Bald Mountain likes to throw people into his active volcano.

Jon Favreau, who helmed The Jungle Book, is directing The Lion King, with what could be the most star-studded line up I’ve ever seen.
Donald Glover, Beyonce, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofer, John Oliver, Eric Andre, Keegan-Michael Key, and Billy Eichner will provide voices.

Favreau will also be back to direct a sequel to The Jungle Book.

Cruella De Vil will get her own origin movie, directed by Alex Timbers and starring Emma Stone.

One of my favorite directors, Guy Ritchie, will be directing a new Aladdin film.
While no one could replace Robin Williams as the Genie, Will Smith being cast has given me a little bit of hope.

Rumors are that the Genie might get his own origin story of how he ended up in the lamp, but nothing is official just yet.

Chip n Dale are also rumored to have a movie in the works, but not much information has been released.

Lilo and Stitch was announced earlier this week from the same team currently working on Aladdin.

Peter Pan will be getting yet another live-action film, this time directed by David Lowry who helmed Pete’s Dragon.
It seems pointless, however, because Hook is the only Peter Pan movie we’ll ever need. BANGARANG!

Tinker Bell will be getting a solo movie, with Reese Witherspoon starring as the titular character. Let’s hope they really tune into the characters sociopathy, jealously, and murderous intent like the classic book did.

The Sword in the Stone will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and written by Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman.
