Rapper says he supports Jay-Z's venture with NFL: 'F*** Colin Kaepernick'

Rapper Freddie Gibbs has spoken out in defense of Jay-Z and his decision to partner with the NFL for production and activism purposes.

Many critics came forward to bash Jay-Z after it was announced that his company, Roc Nation, would be partnering to produce NFL entertainment. The two entities plan to work side by side on the league's live game experience and Super Bowl halftime shows, and incorporating social justice efforts throughout.

The majority of those critics sounded off in defense of former NFL player and current activist, Colin Kaepernick.

What are the details?

Gibbs shared his opinion in a recent Instagram Stories video, in which he said that he supports Jay-Z completely and suggests that naysayers get over his collaboration with the NFL.

"I'm riding with Jay-Z straight up, man," Gibbs said in the video. "F*** Colin Kaepernick. All y'all n****s marched for Colin Kaepernick, and he took a settlement, and they didn't tell y'all what he got or nothing. You know, he settled, so let it go. Y'all hating on Jay-Z for trying to own something in the NFL, man. Y'all n****s is some motherf***in' crabs."

Anything else?

On Friday, TMZ Sports reported that Jay-Z — whose given is Shawn Carter — might also be on his way to becoming a part-owner with an NFL franchise.
The rapper is reportedly set to be a part-owner in what sources are telling TMZ will be a "significant ownership interest."

Sources also told the outlet that the deal with the undisclosed NFL franchise is "going to happen in the near future."

The rapper is reportedly rather interested in becoming part-owner because "he's a huge fan, already has a sports business and wants to continue to be a change agent for the NFL."

The sources insisted, however, that despite having a sports business, "Jay is not an NFL agent, and does not take part in the operations of the NFL players in Roc Nation."

Jay-Z was a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets until 2013.
