Ted Cruz accepts offer to discuss gun rights in person with Alyssa Milano. The actress is already quoting Scripture at him.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has accepted the challenge to discuss gun rights with actress and activist Alyssa Milano.
A meeting between the two — in which Milano previously promised to expose the conservative senator's "bulls**t" — will reportedly take place in Washington, D.C.

What are the details?

Milano requested a meeting with Cruz after the two previously exchanged words on Twitter about the Second Amendment.
Over the weekend, Milano asked where in the Bible it guaranteed rights to gun ownership.
Cruz responded with a well-considered essay on gun rights, as well as some history on the subject.
Milano wrote, "I'd love to come in and meet with you on the gun issue and many other issues that include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, @tedcruz and also, 1 Peter 4:8."
The scripture 1 Peter 4:8 says, "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."
"I'll be in DC next week," the actress's tweet added. "We can live-stream the meeting so the American people can hear your bulls**t 1st hand."
Cruz responded, "I'd be happy to sit down & visit next week about uniting to stop gun violence & about the Constitution. If we can have a civil & positive conversation—in the spirit of 1 Peter 4:8 as you suggest—despite our political differences, that might help resolve the discord in our Nation."

What's the background?

Over the weekend, Milano questioned the Second Amendment in a tweet following news of a mass killing that took place Saturday in Texas.
A 36-year-old suspect shot and killed seven people on the streets of Odessa, Texas, in what appeared to be random attacks. The incident also resulted in the injuries of nearly two dozen people. The Midland Police Department announced that the suspect was killed in a police exchange of gunfire shortly after the suspect carried out the heinous attack.
In a tweet responding to Rep. Matt Schaefer (R-Texas) — who promised that he would not allow the mass killer's acts put a damper on the Second Amendment rights of Texans — Milano wrote, "Can someone cite which passage of the Bible God states it is a god-given right to own a gun? This guy is unbelievable and is clearly owned by the gun lobby."
Cruz noticed Milano's tweets, and issued a thoughtful response.
"An excellent Q, worth considering carefully w/o the snark of Twitter. It is of course not the right to a modern-day firearm that is God-give [sic] but rather the right to Life & the right to Liberty. Essential to that right to life is the right to DEFEND your life & your family," he wrote.
Cruz continued, "The right to self-defense is recognized repeatedly in the Bible, eg Exodus 22:2: 'If a thief is caught breaking in at night & is struck a fatal blow, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed.' (Note, though, verse 3 says it IS murder if during daylight (ie, not self-defense)."
