Supermarket chain Giant is in hot water after a tone-deaf advertisement for the holidays offered getting large 'super spread' platters.
The full-page advert was featured in the East Coast chain's magazine and was heavily circulated on social media platforms like Twitter, where people quickly labeled Giant 'covidiots.'
'Hosting? Plan a super spread,' the ad reads. 'It's easy with our entertaining offerings. Order platters, trays, entrees, desserts, and more.'

Included in the advertisement are a selection of eats perfect for sharing - including a fruit tart, a 'deluxe' fruit and cheese platter, a 'celebratory' cheese board and a 'giant' shrimp platter.
The ad seems tasteless in the days of the pandemic, as the United States braces for yet another wave of hospitalizations and deaths.
It also comes as government officials instruct residents to prepare for small gatherings in their celebration for Thanksgiving.
'This did not come across as we intended,' Giant said on Twitter. 'This was an oversight on our team's part, and we apologize. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season'

'Someone did not think this through in the market department,' one user shared
As more people tagged the supermarket chain for making the blunder, Giant apologized in their response to a number of tweets.
