Author Andy Ngo shared footage of himself hiding from members of an angry mob, who he said chased and beat him while he was doing research at a protest in Portland.
Ngo, who recently published the book 'Unmasked: Inside Antifa's Radical plan to Destroy Democracy' said members of Antifa tried to kill him 'again,' on Friday. He was working on a new book chapter at a rally commemorating the first protest in Portland a year ago following George Floyd's death.
'I was chased, attacked and beaten by a masked mob, baying for my blood,' the author said on a Twitter thread on Wednesday. 'Had I not been able to shelter wounded and bleeding inside a hotel while they beat the doors and windows like animals, there is no doubt in my mind I would not be here today.'

The Portland Police Department did not respond to multiple calls about Ngo's case. Police have not confirmed details to Dailymail.com or that the group chasing Ngo was Antifa.
Ngo said his life has been threatened over the last two years and he shared angry social media posts that read: 'Murder Andy Ngo' and 'Kill Andy Ngo,' and tweets of people threatening him.

He claimed that shortly before midnight on Friday an Antifa member began questioning him.

Ngo said when he didn't answer and attempted to walk away, a group of masked people in black followed and surrounded him, then eventually pulled his mask off, identifying him.
He said they yelled 'That's Andy. Get him! Get him!'
Ngo wrote that he sprinted through downtown Portland seeking police assistance and was tackled by an Antifa member and punched in the head repeatedly while he 'pleaded for them not to kill me'.
He said he was able to crawl away from the mob and went into a hotel for help. In a video Ngo posted on his Twitter thread, the author appears to hide behind the lobby desk with the mob outside the doors screaming 'Nazi scum' while banging on the glass.
Ngo said police eventually arrived. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries, which he said included a blood-shot eye, and wounds to his hands, knees and bruises on his abdomen.

'Antifa', which is short for 'antifascist', counter-protesters believe in active, aggressive opposition to far right-wing movements. Its ideology is rooted in the assumption that the Nazi Party would never have come to power in Germany if people had more aggressively fought it in the streets in the 1920s and 30s.
Most Antifa members come from the anarchist movement or from the far left, though since the 2016 presidential election, some people with more mainstream political backgrounds have also joined.
Ngo said Antifa previously beat him up when he was covering the group two years ago.
According to Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, Sean Gabriel Lopez, 26, was arrested on Saturday on charges of felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony attempted assault, and felony riot. He was released on bail. Ngo claims that Lopez is responsible for attacking him, but it is unclear if the charges are connected directly to Ngo.
Ngo called Wednesday on Portland Police to act and for journalists to denounce the mob's violent tactics.
'I call on journalists and all those who believe in the First Amendment to join me in standing against the tyranny of those who use violence to terrorize, silence and suppress the truth,' he added.
