Arizona State Representative Mark Finchem, an Arizona audit warrior, published a statement yesterday responding to those who seek to seize our right to scrutinize elections.
Mark Finchem is running for Arizona Secretary of State in 2022.
The National Association of Secretaries of State held its 2021 Summer Meeting with swampy Secretaries of State from around the Country.
Some of the members include Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, Michigan’s Jocelyn Benson, Georgia’s Brad Raffensperger, and Colorado’s Jena Griswold to name some of the worst.
Politico reports,
The National Association of Secretaries of State approved a series of recommendations for audits aimed at combating Arizona-style, slapdash reviews of the 2020 election and future races.
The guidelines also call for auditors to be wary of third-party involvement, saying outside participants should be determined prior to the election and work closely with election officials.
These Secretaries don’t want to use third-party vendors. They have too much at stake letting anybody but a handpicked, closely related vendor scrutinize the election they ran.
They continue to claim that an audit was already performed in Arizona and other states. These were fraudits, performed by hand-picked and uncertified vendors, which are actually the companies used to certify the machines are safe to use BEFORE the election. They were just “checking” their own work.
Who else wonders why no Secretaries of State have come out in support of a full forensic election audit in their state? Do they not care about election integrity? Or do they have something to hide?
Mark Finchem is running for Arizona Secretary of State and he supports full forensic audits and full election transparency. Finchem released the following statement on the matter.
REP. MARK FINCHEM RESPONDS TO THOSE WHO SEEK TO PREVENT FORENSIC AUDITS OF ELECTIONS WHERE THERE ARE CONTROVERSIES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUST 25, 2021, Oro Valley, AZ
A few days ago the National Association of Secretaries of State, at their summer meeting in Des Moines, Iowa, approved recommendations for elections audits. Their goal was, “to create guidelines that would prevent a Maricopa-style forensic audit from ever happening again.” Only West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner voted against the recommendations, and Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft abstained.
“There also seems to be movement toward a campaign intended to promote the management of the perception of elections through non-profits and religious group influencers as opposed to support for improvements in election integrity such as defect elimination. This sounds much more like a propaganda program than process excellence —Six Sigma— systems analysis for elimination of process defects.
“Never in the history of the several States, or even in the history of the United States, have the People surrendered their right to fully scrutinize any election. Such scrutiny goes beyond recounts. It is the Legislature, that is the duly elected representatives of the people, who control this aspect of our consent to be governed, not Secretaries of State, who are executive branch office holders, or appointed, unelected bureaucrats. To prevent any form of audit is not the proper role of the Secretary of State, instead their role is to faithfully execute the laws that Legislature has adopted.
“Because of the underlying political questions involving elections, there will always be disagreement on how to handle discrepancies. But nobody can, with a straight face, say that every election is fraud-free. It is the prerogative of a free people to hold their elected representatives accountable for the examination of elections results to prove or disprove alleged discrepancies in any electoral contest. How a Legislature chooses to address those discrepancies is its prerogative, attempting to change the perception the polity is little more than manipulation.
“I fully support forensic audits when called for at the discretion of the Legislature of competent jurisdiction. I also support systemic improvements such as multi-factor authentication and ballot fraud countermeasures such as those now in Arizona law A.R.S. § 16-504, to minimize the need for forensic audits in the future.
Mark Finchem is running for Secretary of State against RINO State Senator Michelle Ugenti Rita, who recently came out against the audit after constituents booed her off stage for killing critical election integrity bills in the Senate, And former Maricopa County Recorder Democrat Adrian Fontes, who participated in The Big Lie.
Maricopa’s new County Recorder Stephen Richer campaigned on the promise to replace the “incompetent criminal Adrian Fontes, who is making fraud easier and to ‘Make The County Recorder’s Office Boring Again'”. Instead, he is having too much fun on CNN and MSNBC, bashing the audit and claiming that this election, conducted by Fontes, was perfect.
AZGOP Chairwoman Kelli Ward addressed this in yesterday’s Arizona Audit update.
Mark Finchem has taken initiative in the state Legislature and launched an investigation in Pima County Arizona, separate from The Arizona Senate’s Maricopa County investigation.
