Director Project 2025 Is Stepping Down, Trump Campaign Welcomes Project’s ‘Demise’

Paul Dans, the director of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, is stepping down. Democrats and the legacy media have made false claims about the conservative blueprint for how former President Donald Trump could govern if he were to win back the White House — though Trump himself had nothing to do with the project.

“Under Paul Dans’ leadership, Project 2025 has completed exactly what it set out to do: bringing together over 110 leading conservative organizations to create a unified conservative vision, motivated to devolve power from the unelected administrative state, and returning it to the people,” said Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts. “This tool was built for any future administration to use.”

Roberts said that Dans built the project from scratch over a period of two years and that the plan was always to have the final version of the project completed after the Republicans and Democrats each held their respective conventions this summer.

Roberts said that Dans “will be departing the team and moving up to the front where the fight remains” and that the organization was “extremely grateful for his and everyone’s work on Project 2025 and dedication to saving America.”

“Project 2025 will continue our efforts to build a personnel apparatus for policymakers of all levels—federal, state, and local,” Roberts concluded. “I look forward to leading this team to continued success.”

Democrats have falsely tied Trump to the project, even though Trump has repeatedly disavowed it, and have used it as a cudgel against his campaign.

“President Trump’s campaign has been very clear for over a year that Project 2025 had nothing to do with the campaign, did not speak for the campaign, and should not be associated with the campaign or the President in any way,” Trump campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita said in a statement.

“Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign — it will not end well for you,” the statement concluded.
