The much-talked-about “White Dudes for Harris” Zoom call on Monday night boasted a few well-known names who talked about their support for Vice President Kamala Harris, but star Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was not one of them despite a popular pro-Harris X account claiming he was.
The X account, Kamala’s Wins — which has over 550,000 followers — wrote on Tuesday, “BREAKING: Joe Burrow is supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and even joined the White Dudes for Kamala call.” A spokesman for the Bengals, however, told the Cincinnati Enquirer on Tuesday that Burrow was not on the “White Dudes for Harris” call, and Kamala’s Wins later deleted its post.
Another viral tweet claimed that New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff also joined the Zoom session, but Front Office Sports reported that sources close to Jones and Goff said neither quarterback was on the pro-Harris call.
Big names who did appear on the “White Dudes for Harris” call included actors Mark Hamill and Jeff Bridges, singer Josh Groban, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), among others. The group’s organizers said that they raised over $4 million for the Harris campaign during the Zoom session.
During the call, speakers discussed their enthusiasm to support Harris while blasting former President Donald Trump.
Burrow, who has stayed away from commenting on politics during his four-year NFL career, has not weighed in on the 2024 race. Earlier this year, the Bengals quarterback was seen chatting with Trump, along with San Francisco 49ers star defensive lineman Nick Bosa, at a UFC match, and Burrow also met the former president when his LSU Tigers visited the White House after winning the national championship in 2020.
