Dem Gov Says Vance Should ‘Go Through’ The Pain Of Having A Family Member Raped — Vance Fires Back

Senator JD Vance (R-OH) pushed back after Governor Andy Beshear (D-KY), during an appearance on MSNBC, suggested that Vance ought to “go through” the pain of seeing a family member become pregnant as the result of a rape.

Beshear, who touted Vice President Kamala Harris’ support for access to abortion during his speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Monday, spoke with “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski about it. During their conversation, he lashed out at Vance — who is currently campaigning to be vice president alongside former President Donald Trump — over his pro-life comments.

“I mean, think about what people have had to go through because of these laws,” Beshear complained about the suffering he said was caused by legislation limiting abortions — in spite of the fact that women whose lives are in danger can still get abortions in all 50 states.

“I mean, JD Vance calls pregnancy resulting from rape ‘inconvenient,'” he continued. “Inconvenience is traffic. I mean, you know — make him go through it.”

The video clip quickly made the rounds on X, and Vance responded, “What the hell is this? Why is @AndyBeshearKY wishing that a member of my family would get raped?!? What a disgusting person.”

Vance’s communications director, William Martin, issued an official statement on Tuesday, saying:

After speaking on the DNC main stage last night, Harris campaign surrogate Governor Andy Beshear went on national television this morning and explicitly called for a member of Senator Vance’s family to be raped. His comments are disgusting, vile, and should not be tolerated in American politics. We call on Kamala Harris to immediately repudiate Governor Beshear’s comments and demonstrate that regardless of partisan disagreements, this kind of violent rhetoric has no place in our public discourse.

“Please don’t judge Kentucky based on our Democrat Governor’s disgusting remarks,” Rep. Thomas Massie added.

Rep. Nancy Mace responded, “As a survivor, I would NEVER wish this on anyone. @AndyBeshearKY I pray you never endure the pain a woman endures for a LIFETIME after.”
